Gujarat, March 17 — Following the arrival of LPG tanker Shivalik at Mundra Port yesterday, another major shipment has reached Indian shores. The vessel Nanda Devi, carrying over 47,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), entered Indian territorial waters early Tuesday and is expected to dock at Vadinar Port around 10 am.

The back-to-back arrivals of Shivalik and Nanda Devi bring in a combined supply of more than 93,000 metric tons of LPG, equivalent to nearly two days of India’s total import requirement. The Shivalik shipment alone, with 46,000 metric tons, was estimated to meet one day’s demand.

Both vessels transited through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor currently under strain due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. Their safe passage underscores India’s efforts to secure uninterrupted energy supplies despite geopolitical uncertainties.

Industry observers note that ports such as Mundra and Vadinar are playing an increasingly vital role in handling large-scale energy imports, ensuring steady availability of LPG for domestic consumption.
